Oceania Tennis Federation Signs World Safe Sport Pledge

The Oceania Tennis Federation (OTF) is proud to mark World Safe Sport Day on 8 August by signing the World Safe Sport Pledge, reinforcing its commitment to protecting children and promoting safe, inclusive environments across tennis in Oceania.

The signing of the pledge follows the recent refresh of OTF’s safeguarding policy and the launch of a regional safeguarding programme. Through this work, OTF is collaborating closely with its member nations to strengthen safeguarding practices and support the development of safe and inclusive tennis environments throughout the region.

Significant progress is already being made across Oceania. Australia, New Zealand and Guam have safeguarding frameworks in place, while a further 10 Pacific Island nations have now appointed Safeguarding Officers to support safeguarding initiatives within their national federations.

OTF President Vicki Reid said the pledge reflects the Federation’s shared responsibility to continue strengthening safeguarding across the region.

“Signing the pledge demonstrates our collective commitment to safeguarding across Oceania. We are committed to working alongside our member nations to ensure safeguarding is practical, culturally relevant, and sustainable.”

Through its regional safeguarding programme, OTF will continue working with member nations to build knowledge, strengthen systems and support Safeguarding Officers in their important roles.

The signing of the World Safe Sport Pledge is another important step in OTF’s ongoing commitment to ensuring tennis across Oceania is a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
