Pacific Oceania sent a strong contingent of players to compete at the NZ Nationals in both the boys and girls, U12, U14 & U16 Events. There were some wonderful individual results, with all the players winning matches in the competition. A special acknowledgement goes to Joella Ioane from American Samoa, who lost to the No. 1 seed in the semi-finals and went on to win her next match, finishing 3rd in the competition. A great achievement against the top 32 players from NZ. Colita Hakena also had a good run in the U16 Girls. The other players had tough draws, pulling seeds in the first round, but went on to win several consolation matches. Camelo JJ Chen, the boys, went down fighting in the 2nd round of the main draw, to the No.1 seed and eventual winner, 7-5 6-4. We would like to thank our experienced coaches who accompanied our team to NZ, Christian Penafiel from Guam and Abigail Tere-Apisah from PNG.
