Oceania Tennis Federation Signs World Safe Sport Pledge to Strengthen Safeguarding Across the Pacific

Oceania Tennis Federation (OTF) is proud to mark World Safe Sport Day on 8 August by signing the World Safe Sport Pledge, reinforcing its commitment to safe and inclusive tennis environments for children. This milestone follows a recent refresh of OTF’s safeguarding policy and the launch of a regional programme working alongside member federations to strengthen safeguarding practices at all levels of the game for both children and adults.

Safeguarding is important to Oceania tennis federations. Australia, New Zealand, and Guam have established safeguarding frameworks in place, while a further 10 Pacific Island nations have each nominated Safeguarding Officers to develop and strengthen safeguarding practices within their own environments. Alongside this, OTF is playing a key role at the regional level by providing guidance, resources, and coordination to support consistent and meaningful implementation across its diverse membership.

“Signing the World Safe Sport pledge reflects our collective commitment to safeguarding across Oceania,” said Oceania Tennis Federation President Vicki Reid. “We’re proud of the progress already made, with more of our member nations actively building their safeguarding capability. But we recognise this is an ongoing journey, not a finish line. OTF is committed to working alongside our member nations to embed safeguarding in ways that are practical, culturally relevant, and sustainable across our region”.
