{"id":7393,"date":"2024-03-15T06:45:25","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T22:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oceaniatennis.com\/newsite\/?p=7393"},"modified":"2024-03-15T06:45:25","modified_gmt":"2024-03-14T22:45:25","slug":"sterling-skilling-fsm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oceaniatennis.com\/newsite\/latest\/sterling-skilling-fsm\/","title":{"rendered":"Sterling Skilling (FSM)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The following Obituary Article celebrating the life of Sterling Skilling (FSM) has been published on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itftennis.com\/en\/news-and-media\/articles\/obituary-sterling-skilling\/\">ITF Website<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"98\" height=\"116\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oceaniatennis.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Sterling-1-002-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7396\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The ITF was saddened to learn of the passing of Sterling Skilling, who for more than 40 years was President of the Federated States of Micronesia Tennis Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His passing, at the age of 77, represents a significant loss to the sport he held so dear and to the region of Oceania for which he worked tirelessly to promote the values of tennis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduating from the University of Hawaii in 1972 with a degree in business administration, Skilling proceeded to represent The Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in Saipan as an account supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skilling had longer stints employed by Mobil Micronesia in Guam, Mobil Kosrae and then Moylan Insurance for whom he worked for nearly two decades, leaving in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wherever his professional life took him, tennis featured heavily.
