John Shannon has been posthumously awarded the Services to Tennis Award by the ITF at the ITF AGM in Vietnam last week. John’s son, John Shannon Jnr and his widow, Donna, travelled to Vietnam to accept the Award.<\/p>\n

This award was recognition of the 40 years that John has been actively involved in Tennis in Fiji. He has held every position in Fiji Tennis, being the President from 2001-2006 and more recently Secretary from 2006-2017. John was also the Joint Executive Officer of the Oceania Tennis Federation from 2012 till his death. John was instrumental in changing the face of tennis in Fiji with his deep involvement in organizing all the International Junior Events in Fiji over the last decade and the Fiji Open for the last 17 consecutive years<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
