{"id":2258,"date":"2015-05-05T15:27:52","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T07:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oceaniatennis.com\/newsite\/?p=2258"},"modified":"2015-05-05T15:29:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-05T07:29:16","slug":"boost-for-fiji-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oceaniatennis.com\/newsite\/latest\/boost-for-fiji-tennis\/","title":{"rendered":"Boost For Fiji Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fiji Times On-Line<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Zanzeer Singh<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Tuesday, May 05, 2015<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;TENNIS Fiji expects it development work to lift up a level after a three-day course conducted by accredited coaches from Tennis Australia in Nadi last week. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A total of 30 primary and secondary school teachers participated in the course, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">organised by Tennis Australia and the Fiji Sports Commission, <\/span>at the Nadi Sport Club.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sachin Reddy who is the tennis co-ordinator at the Nadi Sports Club said they received an overwhelming response for the course. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reddy said the school teachers learnt the basics in order to pass their knowledge to their students in a fun and easy manner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Tennis is a growing sport in our country so the more we teachers have involved in coaching, the better knowledge they will share with their students,&#8221; he said. &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The development programs are crucial so that players enter into training and then play at the competitive level.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Australians Bruce Osborne and Mitchell Hewitt conducted the course. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reddy said the course included the Red court program using the small rackets and slower balls. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;There was a bit of theory with a lot of practical teaching,&#8221; he said. &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are glad to have the Fiji Sports Commission and Tennis Australia helping Tennis Fiji. The International Tennis Federation also helped out during the course and teachers were well looked after.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;At the end of the three days the teachers improved their tennis skills.
