This event was not held due to Covid – 19<\/p>\n

2019 – Week 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet another strong filed was attracted to this event with the Boy\u2019s Singles now a 48-draw event. Robbie Schoor (NMI) was the best of the Pacific players reaching the quarter finals in both the singles and doubles Events. The Singles event was won by Jacob Bradshaw (AUS) who defeated Kenta Nakamura (JPN) 64,63. In the Boy\u2019s Doubles Final, Hiroki Fujita (JPN) \/Maj Tomac (SLO) defeated Kenta Nakamura (JPN)\/Kan Watanabe (JPN) 64,63.<\/p>\n

The best preformed Pacific Girls player was Eleanor Schuster (SAM) who reached both the Singles and Doubles (with Zorika Morgan -SI) semi-finals. The Girl\u2019s singles final was won by top seed, Koharu Nimi (JPN) who defeated Vivian Yang (NZL) 62, 46, 61. Both these finalists then played together in the Doubles winning the Doubles Final against Ayaka Koda (JPN)\/Pete Komada (JPN) 62, 63.<\/p>\n

2019 – Week 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Pacific players fared much better in the 2nd<\/sup> week with Eleanor Schuster (SAM)\/ Saoirse Breen (FIJ) reaching the Doubles Final before they were beaten by the winners of the previous week, Ayaka Koda (JPN)\/Vivian Yang (NZL) 63,75. In the Girl\u2019s Singles, Pacific Oceania players, Saoirse Breen (FIJ) and Zorika Morgan (SI) also reached the quarter-finals. The Singles Title was won again won by Koharu Nimi (JPN) who defeated compatriot Pete Komada (JPN) 64, 62.<\/p>\n

In the Boys Event, Jiayang Dong (AUS) won the Singles Title defeating Kenta Nakamura (JPN) 16,76 (4), 60. The Doubles Title was won by the New Zealand pairing of Nick Beamish (NZL)\/Caelan Potts (NZL) who beat Kenta Nakamura (JPN)\/Kan Watanabe (JPN) 62,64<\/p>\n

2018 – <\/strong><\/span>Week 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

The longstanding tournament attracted a very good field with a boys qualifying for the first time since it became a 48 draw event. At the end of the week the same singles winners emerged as in week one. Lara Walker played superb tennis all week and was much too good for Koyama from Japan again second time around.<\/p>\n

Alex Bulte faced a different opponent in the Boys Singles final. Hikaru Takeda did not play the first week but quickly adapted to the conditions and played very good tennis to reach the final. However, Bulte was too strong claiming his second singles title in Noumea with a 63 63 victory.<\/p>\n

The Girl\u2019s Doubles final was an all Japanese affair with singles finalist Kokomi Koyama and partner Yukina Kubo just edging Ayaka Koga and Pete Komada 26 63 (10-7).The Boy\u2019s Doubles proved to be a very interesting event. Young Japanese pair Hiroya Iimura and Kan Watanabe, who had to play qualifying in singles, showed up as an outstanding attacking doubles combination. Playing with great enthusiasm they upset Bulte and Qariaqus on the way to the final. Once there they comfortably beat New Zealand pair Corban Crowther and Caelan Potts 64 64.<\/p>\n

2018 – Week 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

With an increase in numbers of both boys and girls over 2017 this tournament, in only its second year and competing against Darwin for players, was a great success. The weather was perfect for the entire week and there was some excellent tennis played. Players from Australia, New Zealand and Japan dominated the events with some\u00a0good results from the strong Pacific contingent.<\/p>\n

The Boys Singles was won by top seed, Alex Bulte (AUS) who beat surprise finalist, Corban Crowther (NZL) 76(5), 26, 63 in the final. It was a very good showing by Crowther to make the final of an ITF event for the first time whilst it was Bulte’s 2nd title on the circuit.<\/p>\n

The Girl’s final featured 5th seed, Lara Walker (AUS) against 3rd seed Kokomi\u00a0 Koyama (JPN). Walker had earlier upset the top seed Holly Stewart (NZL) and repeated that form in the final winning 62,62.<\/p>\n

The Boy’s Doubles was a battle between the top 2 seeds with Bulte combining with fellow Australian, David Qariaqus to bat Clement Mainguy (VAN) and Gillian Osmont (FRA) 64,62. In the closest of matches, Holly Stewart and Ivy McLean\u00a0(NZL) outlasted the Japanese pair Pete Komada and Yukino Kubo 57, 62, 12-10.”<\/p>\n

2017<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In June the Ligue Caledonienne de Tennis staged two ITF Junior Circuit tournaments back to back for the first time. Good fields were assembled for both events and with it being school holidays in Noumea, larger than normal numbers of local players took part in the two events.<\/p>\n

The Girl’s Singles event was a triumph for Carol Lee from the Northern Mariana Islands. Carol won the first tournament to claim her first singles title on the ITF Junior tour and then repeated the performance in the second week. Both weeks she beat Helena Mahomed from France in the final. Carol also won the doubles title, her second, in the first week combining with Holly Stewart from New Zealand. As a result Lee will move inside the top 300 players in the world.<\/p>\n

The Boy\u2019s Singles saw New Zealander Isaac Becroft reach his first singles finals on the ITF Junior Tour. In week one Hyeonsu Choi (KOR) beat Becroft in the final but the Kiwi went one better in the second week beating top seed Denton Ho (HKG) 64 64 to claim his first singles title. Becroft did the same in the doubles reaching the final with compatriot Findley Hall both weeks, losing the final the first week but then going one better to beat TK Williams (NZL) and Ryo Minakata (JPN) 62 63<\/p>\n

2016<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The ITF Open Junior BNP Paribas de Nouvelle Caledonie was played from Sunday, 12th<\/sup>-18th June in Noumea.\u00a0 The event comprised a 64 Boy’s Singles and 32 Girl’s Singles Draw with respectively 32 and 16 Doubles Draws.<\/p>\n

Several Pacific Oceania players starred in this Event with Carol Lee (NMI) contesting both the Girl\u2019s singles and Doubles Finals. Seeded 2nd<\/sup> in the Singles, Carol Lee lost the final to top seed Lisa Mays (AUS) 63, 64. Ayana Rengiil (PAL), seeded 4th<\/sup>, won through to the quarter-finals before losing to 5th<\/sup> seed Madison Bishop (AUS) 61, 76(2). In the Doubles the 2nd<\/sup> seed pairing of Carol Lee (NMI)\/Ayana Rengiil (PAL) lost a very close final to the unseeded team from Japan, Otaha Aoki\/Koharu Niimi 75, 64.<\/p>\n

In the Boy\u2019s Singles, unseeded William Bruchard was the most successful of the Pacific Oceania players losing his quarter-final match to the 4th<\/sup> seed, Ryo Minakata (JPN) 60, 46, 63. In the Doubles, the New Caledonian pairing of Mathieu Feyler\/Celestin Tisserant lost their quarter final match to Samuel Armand (AUS)\/ Stefan Storch (CAN) 75, 75.<\/p>\n

JUNE 2015:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

43 Boys and 33 girls signed in for the BNP Paribas New Caledonia ITF Junior Championships in Noumea from the 11th<\/sup>-16th<\/sup> June. In the Boys Singles, only 2 Pacific players won a round, Terry Rush (FSM) and 14th<\/sup> seed Johan Sklenak (CAL) with the latter reaching the 3rd<\/sup> round following a 1st<\/sup> round bye before being beaten by the 3rd<\/sup> seed, Ming Chun Alan Sou (HKG) 6-3, 6-2. The Boys Singles was won by the top seed, Moerani Bouzige (AUS) who defeated 5th<\/sup> seed Taisei Miyamoto (JPN) 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-2.<\/p>\n

In the Girl\u2019s Singles, the only pacific player to win a round was 14th<\/sup> seed, Ayana Rengiil (PAL) who advanced to the 3rd<\/sup> round after a 1st<\/sup> round bye by beating Wakaba Sato (JPN) 6-0, 6-2 before losing to 4th<\/sup> seed Rika Tanaka (JPN) 6-3, 6-0. The Girl\u2019s Singles final was won by top seed Ayumi Miyamoto (JPN) who beat 2nd<\/sup> seed Mimi Levine (USA) 6-1,6-1<\/p>\n

The Boy\u2019s Doubles saw Johan Sklenak (CAL) reach the quarter-finals with his partner Moerani Bouzige (AUS) before losing this very close match 6-4, 6-7 (6), (10-8). The Boy\u2019s Doubles was won by the Japanese pairing of Taisei Miyamoto\/ Yuki Watanabe who beat Seon Yong Han (KOR)\/Ming Chun Alan Sou (HKG) 6-2, 6-1<\/p>\n

The Girl\u2019s Doubles saw the Pacific pairing of Carol Lee (NMI)\/Ayana Rengiil (PAL) and Lysiane Moto-Nekiriai (CAL) and her Australian partner reach the quarter finals before being beaten. The Girl\u2019s Doubles final was won by the top seeds, Mimi Levine (USA)\/ Ayumi Miyamoto (JPN) who beat the Japanese pairing of Risa Fukutoku\/ Funa Kozaki 6-4, 6-3<\/p>\n

2014:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Yaelle Honakoko continued her domination of the BNP Paribas New Caledonia Junior Event, part of the ITF World Circuit, in June 2014 when she won the Girl\u2019s Singles title for the 2nd<\/sup> consecutive year. She convincingly beat Gabriella da Silva Fick (AUS) 6-0, 6-4. This win was all the more creditable as she had struggled with a serious abdominal injury in defeating Ramu Moriguchi (JPN) in the semi-final 6-0, 2-6, 6-2<\/p>\n

New Caledonia was again in the winner\u2019s circle when Samuelle Bull (CAL) teamed with Mimi Levine (USA) to defend her doubles title in beating Gabriella da Silva Fick and Alicia Smith (AUS) 2-6, 7-6(3), 10-6.<\/p>\n

New Zealand Boys dominated both the Boy\u2019s Singles and Doubles events with Kiranpal Pannu (NZL) beating Zac Whaanga (NZL) 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Zac Whaanga then combined with Dominic Miller(NZL) to beat Kiranpal Pannu and Jack Heslin(NZL) in the Boy\u2019s Doubles Final 6-7 (3), 6-2, 10-7<\/p>\n

Thursday 20th June<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pacific Oceania pairing of Annie Shannon (FIJ) and Samuelle Bull (CAL) have\u00a0won the Doubles Final of the BNP Paribas ITF Junior Doubles Event in Noumea, New Caledonia. For Annie Shannon, this is her 2nd ITF Junior Doubles title.<\/p>\n

In the Final they played the 4th seeds, Gabriella Coates (NZL) and Danielle McIntyre (AUS) and closed the match out in 2 tight sets 7\/5, 6\/4.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the semi-finals, they had beaten the 3rd seeds Yuri Katano (JPN) and Alicia Smith (AUS) 6\/4,6\/3.<\/p>\n

Monday 17 June:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andrew Mailtorok reports on the Opening Day that “Vinda Teally (SOL)\u00a0had an outstanding start to the Tournament yesterday defeating Emma Eccleton (NZL) with an ITF Junior ranking of 217 . Vinda started somewhat nervously with numerous unforced errors to lose the 1st set 6-3. After being down 4 games in the 2nd\u00a0set, she fought back tenaciously to win that 6-4. Then closing out the match 7-5 in the 3rd set producing outstanding tennis on the big points.She will now have to play Samuelle Bull (CAL) in the next round.<\/p>\n
